Frequently Asked Questions

How do I receive my free copy of “Return to Sender”?

We have copies of Return to Sender by Julia Alvarez available for free. If you are local and able, please arrange a pick-up at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies in Bailey Hall Room 320; we’ll have it waiting for you at the front desk. If you’ll be traveling to the workshop, please provide your shipping address so that we can mail it.

While we encourage participants to read the book in advance, this is not a requirement. If you prefer, we’ll have a copy waiting for you at registration, so you won’t miss out on this deal!

I am interested in earning CEU credit, how do I register?

This is an option that we try to package with all of our educator workshops. CLACS is partnering with Baker University to offer a blended Continuing Education Unit (1 Hour). Baker University’s “Continuing Education for Educators” program is designed to help you:

  • Earn graduate credits to meet state recertification requirements;
  • Increase knowledge in a particular subject area;
  • Increase your classroom effectiveness;
  • Enhance your earning power.

The course will give you access to additional materials and resources, including the tools to design your own methods/lesson plans inspired by the workshop. We recognize the benefit of earning a CEU credit, but the course is designed to encourage reflection and constructive action planning. Paired with the workshop, the course will provide a comprehensive experience. You can register for the course ($65 registration fee) here.

For more information (including a syllabus), visit our course page.
