Accommodations

Below are the main blocked conference rooms for U.S.-based scholars (our international guest will be mainly at SpringHill Suites and Doubletree). There are, of course, other hotels in Lawrence. However, please note that some of these hotels are not within walking distance of the KU campus or the downtown area and will not be included in conference transportation to and from events. In addition to conference transportation, bus transportation and ride-share services, such as Uber and Lyft (we are very cosmopolitan), are available in Lawrence, and participants can coordinate sharing rides.

SpringHill Suites by Marriott

1 Riverfront Plaza

SpringHill Suites is located in the Riverfront Plaza next to the Kansas River. It is within a 2-3 minute walk of downtown Lawrence and the many restaurants located on Massachusetts Street. Walking from the hotel to Kansas Memorial Union takes approximately 25 minutes.

  • All rooms are available for $120.00 per night (plus tax).

The Oread

The Oread is located on the KU campus and is a 2-minute walk to the Kansas Memorial Union, where some conference panels will take place. It is a 20-minute walk from the hotel to downtown Lawrence.

  • King Classic Rooms are available for $125 per night (plus tax).
  • King Double Rooms are available for for $125 per night (plus tax).
  • Queen Double Bed Rooms are available for $161 per night (plus tax).
  • Queen ADA Rooms are available for $125 per night (plus tax).

Standard check-in time is 4:00 pm and standard check-out time is 11:00 am.

Double Tree is located in north Lawrence. It is within 25 minutes walking distance of many restaurants located on Massachusetts Street, the downtown area’s main thoroughfare.

TownePlace Suites is located in a quieter location, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Lawrence. It is within 20 minutes walking distance of many restaurants located on Massachusetts Street, the downtown area’s main thoroughfare. 

  • 1 King beds are available for $99 per weeknight and $139 per night on the weekend (plus tax)
  • 2 Queen beds are available for $99 per weeknight and $139 per night on the weekend (plus tax)

The Lawrence Transit bus system, taxis, and car services, such as Uber and Lyft, are available in Lawrence, and participants can coordinate rides by carpooling.​
