Ryan Clasby, Anthropology
Grant Recipient ($10,000): KU New Faculty Research Development Award for "Art of the Indigenous Amazon: Deconstructing the Western Imagination of the Amazon Rainforest and Its People"
Curator for Global Indigenous Art and Lifeways, Ryan is responsible for facilitating the care, study, and display of the Global Indigenous Arts collection at the Spencer Museum of Art at KU. His research focuses on the art and archaeology of the Andes and the Amazon, and he has taught anthropology and museum studies at other institutions, including Skidmore College.

Professor and History Department Chair, Rob's research focuses on the development of race in Latin America and the experiences of Africans, their descendants, and indigenous peoples, as well as Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean; intellectual and social history of race; African diaspora in Latin America; and ethnohistory of Mesoamerica.
