Faculty Research International Travel Awards
Faculty Research International Travel Awards
This funding is for faculty research, not conferences. Research may include gathering data or resources for curriculum development, programming, community outreach, and language learning. Research travel must take place in either Latin America or the Caribbean. Non-KU educators may apply. The maximum award amount is $1,250, such that the award usually must be complemented by other funding. Competitive preference will be given to faculty who attend our events, serve on our committees, and have projects that address pressing global questions. Only one award per academic year (August – August) per faculty member. Travel requests should be submitted 45 days before the date of travel. For submissions and questions, contact Brent Metz (bmetz@ku.edu).
Complete applications must include:
- Curriculum Vitae
- A narrative justification for the research project less than 2,000 characters, including:
- Reason/objective/significance for collection of data
- Other funding sources
- Detailed budget less than 2,000 characters that includes estimated airfare, lodging, ground transportation, per diem, and other expenses
- Dates of travel & anticipated flight itinerary
For financial and reporting purposes, faculty must submit a brief (1-page) report of their trip within four weeks of their return. Any photos that faculty are willing to share with the public are greatly appreciated.
