Conference Transportation
Lawrence Shuttle Buses
We have contracted with First Student Transportation to provide shuttle service from the conference hotels to the KU Memorial Union.
On Thursday, Friday, Saturday a bus will pick up at Hampton Inn and DoubleTree Inn at 8:30 a.m. The Hampton Inn bus will then pick up at the Spring Hill Suites on the way to the KU Memorial Union. The Doubletree bus will go directly to the Union.
Return busses will leave the Union at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday (after the Quindaro Excursion), 7:45 p.m. on Friday (after the Oread Reception), and 8:15 p.m. on Saturday (after the banquet). As with the morning, one bus will go to Doubletree Inn and the other will go to Hampton Inn and Spring Hill Suites.
Attendees staying at the Oread can walk a short two blocks down Jayhawk Blvd. to the Kansas Memorial Union.
Transportation to Quindaro Township (Lawrence, KS to Kansas City, KS)
Visit the Quindaro Township in Kansas City, Kansas, a first-hand view of the long and layered history of Indigenous community in Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri. For those of you planning to attend the Quindaro Excursion on Thursday afternoon, please wear sturdy/comfortable walking shoes.
Transportation is provided as part of registration. The excusion will begin in the Kansas Room (6th floor) with a brief presentation and video at 1:00 p.m. Attendees will depart KU at 2:00 p.m., boarding buses at the 4th floor entrance of the Kansas Memorial Union at 1301 Jayhawk Blvd., Lawrence, KS, 66045. Buses will depart Quindaro Township at approximately 5:00 p.m.
University/Public Transportation
KU and Lawrence Transit run busses that can be used to move around campus and from campus to downtown. All KU/Lawrence busses are free on campus. Campus loops (43 and 44) both stop in front the Union. Bus #10 connects KU to downtown running every 30 mins. Routes 3 and 6 pass near the Doubletree Inn and Hampton Inn and go to downtown.
Lawrence Transit has information regarding the bus system. The regular fare is $1 for a one-way trip, or you can buy a day pass for $2.75. Route information and bus schedules can be found here. There is a mobile app with real-time locations and a mobile payment app both available here. Most routes stop service between 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Car services such as Uber and Lyft are also available in Lawrence. You can find estimates regarding their fares online and access their services through their respective mobile apps.
Parking at KU
The event will take place in the Kansas Memorial Union. You are welcome to drive to campus and park at the Mississippi St. Parking Garage (accessible from Jayhawk Blvd. or Mississippi St.) it has hourly rates. Hourly garage parking is $1.75 for the first hour (or any portion of the hour) and $1.50 for all subsequent hours. Pay kiosks are available at all levels of the garage. The Mississippi Street Garage is located north of, and shares an accessible walkway with, the Kansas Memorial Union. You can access the Kansas Union from Level 4 of the garage. Take the walkway from Level 4 of the parking garage, and you will enter at Level 2 of the Kansas Union, right outside of the KU Bookstore.
If you are a registered attendee of the Educator Workshop, "Improving Education for, about, and with Indigenous Peoples of Kansas," parking is free. All attendees planning to park at the Mississippi St. Garage must register with their their vehicle on this website before entering. If you fail to register properly, KU Parking may ticket your vehicle; if this happens, we can resolve the issue if you send an email to clacs@ku.edu.
On Saturday most campus parking areas are free all day, except the garage. For those considering driving to campus on Saturday, September 10, free parking is available in Lot 16, Lot 91, Lot 94 and Lot 13, which are close to the event location. These parking areas are walkable but not as accessible as the parking garage. We ask that attendees who are not in need of accessible parking to park in the other lots available

If you are a registered attendee of the ASE 2022 Annual Meeting and need accessible parking, the Mississippi St. Garage is recommended. If you are in need, parking is free. All attendees planning to park at the Mississippi St. Garage must register with their their vehicle on this website before entering.
