Lawrence

Biography

My favorite part about working for CASS is…

The people. And how many different areas of study and types of classes there are. The College has many interdisciplinary courses, so the range of what students are interested in can be very broad, intersectional, and complex.

I became an advisor because…

Curiosity. Talking with and listening to students is one thing that brings me joy. It’s fascinating to learn about people and learn different things from them.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

A baker, chef, interior designer, clothing designer, teacher, writer, painter, and graphic designer. None of these have happened yet, but I still have time.

My favorite place on campus is…

Sitting on a blanket on the hill by the Campanile looking out past the football stadium. Preferably in the fall or spring.

Advice to college students:

The most important and enduring relationship we have is with ourselves. So even if times are difficult and you struggle, you can always come back to yourself when you are ready.

If you only had 1 day to explore Lawrence, what would you do?

I’d take the East Lawrence historical walking tour, grabbing coffee at Decade and saying hello to the plants at Jungle House. After that, I’d visit Mass Street and stop in for records at Love Garden, books at the Raven, and art at Wonderfair. Lunch must be Burrito King. In the afternoon, I’d go to KU’s campus to see Potter’s Lake and the Spencer Museum of Art. Finally, I’d watch the sunset from the levee on the north side of the river.
